Tom Hardy may be known for his intense film roles and brooding screen presence, but behind the scenes, the Hollywood actor has a surprisingly close bond with British royalty—particularly Prince Harry.
The Peaky Blinders and Mad Max star is a longtime friend of the Duke of Sussex and even made a quick return to the UK while filming Fonzo to attend Harry’s 2018 royal wedding to Meghan Markle.
Though Hardy keeps the details of their relationship tightly under wraps, calling it “deeply private,” he did once describe Harry bluntly—but fondly—as “a [expletive] legend” in an interview with Esquire.
Over the years, the pair have been spotted together at events like polo matches, and they also crossed paths at the 2017 premiere of Dunkirk, where Hardy was one of the lead actors.
A Royal Connection Through Charity
Though it’s not publicly confirmed how their friendship began, it’s likely they first connected through Hardy’s work with The Prince’s Trust.
In 2010, he became an ambassador for the charity, launching the “You Can Do It” campaign, aimed at boosting self-esteem and confidence in young people.
As part of his involvement, Hardy has openly spoken about the importance of support systems, particularly for those facing addiction or personal challenges.
A Royal Honor
In recognition of his contributions to drama and charitable work, Hardy was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2018 by then-Prince Charles.
At the time, he told the Mirror, “The Prince’s Trust is a charity that has always been close to my heart.”
With royal ties rooted in both friendship and philanthropy, Hardy’s bond with the monarchy goes far deeper than most fans might expect.
