Ugandan musician Alien Skin has called on fellow artists to return their full attention to music following the conclusion of the country’s general elections and campaign season.

Uganda went to the polls on January 15 to elect the president and members of parliament. President Yoweri Museveni, who garnered the highest number of votes, was declared the winner.
In the parliamentary races, no musician managed to secure a seat in the next Parliament, marking a disappointing outcome for artists who had ventured into active politics.
Reacting to the developments, Alien Skin said the election period is now firmly behind the country and musicians should face the reality of the moment by focusing on their craft.
According to him, the long break before the next political cycle presents an opportunity for artists to rebuild their music careers and reconnect with their audiences.
“Now that elections and rallies are over, Ugandan musicians, it’s time to face reality,” Alien Skin said. “While some of you were chasing politics and sympathy, it’s high time music speaks. There are no excuses now. If you choose politics, that is your choice, but the term is set and there is a long break from politics ahead. Let the music talk.”
