Dancehall star Beenie Gunter has spoken out about what he describes as poor management practices that are damaging the careers of many talented artistes.

The singer did not mince words as he criticized some managers in the music industry, saying a lack of business knowledge and professionalism has led to the downfall of promising talent.

Very many managements have killed talent, and that comes from a point of not knowing the business,” Beenie said. “I am kind of biased about management. It is not easy working with people, especially management in Uganda, because they are very manipulative.”

According to the self-proclaimed Guntalk boss, the impact of bad management goes beyond missed opportunities and stalled careers. He revealed that some artistes end up suffering emotionally due to how they are handled by the people entrusted with guiding them.

“They manipulate musicians a lot. Musicians even go into depression because of the people they work with,” he added.

Beenie noted that from his experience and observations in the industry, he has learned how he expects to be managed and treated. The singer made it clear that he understands his brand and cannot be handled carelessly.

I am an adult. I am Guntalk. I know what to do. I am not the kind of artiste you can treat or manage anyhow,” he emphasized.
