Music veteran and former Leone Island manager, Chagga Geoffrey, has expressed deep disappointment in fellow musicians after his Friends of Chagga concert—originally scheduled for November 1st at Kati Kati Grounds, Lugogo—was abruptly cancelled.

Chagga says the show failed to take off due to lack of support from artists, unfulfilled pledges, and what he describes as alleged sabotage within the music industry. The news left fans and service providers who had hoped for a big evening of celebration frustrated.

Speaking about the ordeal, Chagga sounded resigned but visibly hurt:

“I don’t condemn them for anything, they are just musicians.”

He revealed that despite mobilizing for the event, not a single table was sold, and the only financial support he received came from a one Meddie, who offered him Shs 1 million and promised to top it up on the show day. Chagga says this was the same money he used to kickstart rehearsals.

However, matters worsened when the event organizers pulled out.

“My brother Sizza Man then told me if the organizers are quitting, he was going to assist me in organizing the show,” Chagga narrated.

He added that several individuals had pledged tables worth Shs 10 million, funds he planned to use for music instruments and venue payments, but none of those pledges materialized, leaving him unable to proceed.
