Dokta Brain has opened up about the possibility of stepping away from singing in the future, describing the craft as “slavery” and saying he doesn’t see himself staying on stage forever.

Despite being behind several chart-topping songs, Dokta Brain—born Nkwanga Geoffrey—says performing is not something he plans to do for life. He believes that, like any demanding profession, music should have a stopping point where one rests and redirects energy into other skills.

At one point, I may stop singing because I see it as slavery. It is slavery: you need to do it for some time, then rest,” Dokta Brain said. “If you master the game, you can take big steps. And if it becomes so beneficial that you can’t quit, then you should learn from it and be the one offering the end service.”

The singer-songwriter emphasized that while he may one day quit performing, his passion for writing music will never fade. Having started out as a writer before transitioning into singing, Dokta Brain says the pen comes naturally to him.

I cannot die on stage personally. But I will never abandon the pen because I keep writing even when I don’t want to,” he noted. “If I had decided to just write music and not sing, I would be the fattest person in the room. Writing comes effortlessly to me, but singing stresses me a bit—it even makes me lose weight.”
