Eddy Kenzo has clarified and defended remarks he made during the vigil of Fik Fameica’s late mother, where he floated the idea of establishing a cemetery dedicated to musicians and creatives whose families would consent.

The proposal sparked debate online, attracting criticism from MC Kats and sections of the public who questioned its intent and timing.

Addressing the backlash, Kenzo said his comments had been misunderstood and deserved deeper reflection rather than outright dismissal.

“The cemetery issue should be looked at more deeply,” Kenzo explained. “Artists are public figures, and their status attracts many things, including tourism. Imagine legends like Herman Basudde, Paul Kafeero and Mowzey Radio all resting in one place.”

According to the Big Talent boss, the concept goes beyond burial grounds. He envisions a cultural landmark that would preserve Uganda’s creative heritage while also contributing to the economy.

Kenzo said the site could feature a museum documenting the lives, music and impact of legendary artists, with visitors paying an entry fee to tour the grounds and learn about Uganda’s entertainment history.

He added that such a space would not only attract local fans but also draw researchers and tourists from abroad who are interested in African music and cultural legacies.

Kenzo also dismissed claims that the proposal was driven by political motives, arguing that critics were narrowing the discussion instead of appreciating its long-term value.

“To think everything is about politics is to miss the bigger picture,” he said.

He stressed that the idea is rooted in legacy, cultural preservation and a broader vision for the future of Uganda’s creative industry, insisting that conversations around valuing artists in life and death should be handled with openness and foresight.
