Singer Eddy Kenzo has pushed back at critics following the announcement of his second Grammy Awards nomination.

Speaking to NBS TV, Kenzo said he remains confident in his journey and does not rely on public approval to pursue his goals.

I don’t need anyone’s validation to do what I have to do. If I had listened to the words of Ugandans, I wouldn’t have performed in those big countries,” Kenzo stated.

His remarks come after widespread criticism from sections of the media and the public regarding his new Grammy nomination, which was announced last week.

Kenzo earned a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

The nomination is for his collaboration with Iranian-Swedish artist Mehran Matin on the track “Hope and Love.”

The project has been praised for its strong message and its fusion of cultural sounds.

This latest recognition reinforces Kenzo’s growing influence on the global music stage and his ongoing contribution to promoting African music worldwide.
