One of the awardees, Mr. Robert Kasaija, Director of Kasaija & Sons Millers Ltd and Gold Star Resort Hotel Ltd, was celebrated for his unwavering loyalty. From humble beginnings, Mr. Kasaija started with his first facility of UGX 20 million from Equity Bank. With consistency and the bank’s support, he gradually expanded his vision, eventually managing a development facility worth over UGX 2 billion. This partnership enabled him to acquire land, oversee construction, and bring to life the Busia Gold Resort Hotel, which has since become a landmark in the region’s tourism and hospitality sector. For his dedication and long-standing partnership, Mr. Kasaija was honored with the Loyalty Award.
Also recognized was Mr. Richard Omusei, Resident Director of Halcyon High Schools, which are among the most respected centers of learning in the Teso subregion with campuses in Soroti, Serere, and Ocaapa, alongside Teso Boarding Primary School. Under his leadership, the schools have shaped the lives of hundreds of learners and produced some of the region’s top-performing students. Through Equity Bank’s free financial literacy programs, teachers at Halcyon have been empowered with knowledge to borrow wisely and build financial stability. For his role in advancing education and empowering teachers, Mr. Omusei received the Most Influential Customer Award.
Equity Bank officials emphasized that these recognitions are a reflection of the institution’s continued commitment to walking the journey with its customers and supporting them to achieve their dreams.
