Valentine’s Day found Ugandan artist Kapeke serenading fans at the Royal Regency in London, and when he touched back down in Kampala, he wasn’t quite the same.

Suddenly, he was speaking English with a fresh accent and proudly declaring himself an international artist. When jokingly asked what he thinks about his songs going places, he didn’t hesitate to flex: “I am already an international artist, I’m from London…what are you saying?” he replied.
Kapeke was questioned about whether he’d landed any collaborations during his short UK stay, and he kept it real by sharing that he wasn’t ready to chase collaboration with people who didn’t vibe with his craft.
“You don’t just come from nowhere and make a collaboration. You make plans,” says Kapeke.
“I’m not looking for collaborations with people who aren’t interested, I only work with those who understand my art,” he added emphasizing that he is laser-focused on building his brand the way he sees fit.
