Fast-rising singer Kapeke has opened up about the impact of Bebe Cool’s much-talked-about List 2025, saying artists who failed to appear on it were genuinely hurt because the list carries significant weight in the music industry.

As has become tradition, Bebe Cool releases his annual list at the start of every year, highlighting artists and songs he believes performed best in the previous year.

While the list is often labeled as his personal opinion, it usually sparks heated debate among creatives, with many artists reacting positively or negatively depending on where—or whether—they appear.

Kapeke, who earned a spot on the 2025 list thanks to his hit song Kabba, says the reactions from fellow artists made him realize just how important the list has become.

“I grew up hearing about it, but I only realized its weight when I saw how artists feel when they don’t appear on it. They get hurt. It means the list rates them and helps them know where they stand,” Kapeke said.

The singer admitted that he never imagined he would one day make it onto Bebe Cool’s list. For a long time, he believed it was reserved strictly for already established stars in the industry.

I have never even hung out with Bebe Cool. I have only seen him once in my life, in Kiwatule in 2024. So when I appeared on the list and saw that even big artists work hard to get on it, I realized that I am also big now,” he added.

Buoyed by the recognition, Kapeke says he is not settling. The artist revealed that his next goal is to secure a spot on the Bebe Cool List 2026, promising to work even harder in the year ahead.
