Latest news sipping in is that both Mateos bar and Nandos restaurant along Kampala road have been forced by URA officials to shut down this afternoon after failing to clear their assigned taxes which accrued to abnormal sums that pushed CG Allen Kagina and her team to take action.
According to the law of the land, every business is liable to an amount of money inform of taxes that help to run the government. Kampala road based Mateos bar and Nandos restaurant were not exceptional only that both of them have decided to evade taxes and they have accrued to 150M Ugx and 250M respectively, huge sums that have forced URA representatives to close down both places.
For those who enjoy the terrific Tuesday, the Pizza night at Nandos and the ones who are used to enjoy the ambiance at Mateos bar, this time you will have to look for new hang outs.
UPDATE:
Uganda Revenue Authority has since allowed city restaurants Nandos and Mateos to re-open and continue with business after management reportedly reached an agreement with the tax body, URA tweeted last evening.
