Singer and pastor Wilson Bugembe has explained why he maintains a neutral position despite being close to both President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
Speaking openly, Bugembe said his role as a pastor requires him to remain impartial and avoid taking political sides.
He noted that spiritual leaders are called to serve all people equally, regardless of their political beliefs.
“A pastor must have no sides and remain neutral. It is an honor to know both candidates,” Bugembe said during his interview with Sanyuka TV.
The worship singer added that his relationship with both leaders is based on respect and dialogue, not politics.
He emphasized that his mission is to pray for the nation and guide people spiritually, not to influence political choices.
Bugembe’s remarks come at a time when religious leaders are often criticized for associating with political figures.
However, he insisted that unity, peace, and moral guidance should always come first.
He concluded by urging Ugandans to respect different opinions and focus on peaceful coexistence as the country continues to navigate its political journey.
