Musician Ronald Mayinja has revealed that artists who performed during the NRM campaign period are yet to receive their full performance payments.

Mayinja’s comments come at a time when Buchaman is reportedly considering legal action against Bebe Cool over unpaid dues he claims to have earned during the campaigns.
However, Mayinja has stepped forward to defend the Gagamel boss, clarifying that no artist who performed has received their final payment so far.
According to Mayinja, all artists signed formal contracts before taking part in the campaigns. He emphasized that their involvement was handled strictly as business, not politics.
“Everyone signed a contract. We didn’t do it as a political job but as a business, and everyone negotiated their contract,” Mayinja explained.
He further noted that the contracts clearly separated facilitation funds from performance fees. Facilitation money was meant to cover transportation, accommodation, food, and fuel expenses during the campaign period — and that is the only money artists have received to date.
“In our contracts, there was payment for facilitation during campaigns to help with transportation, lodging, food, and fuel. But the money we worked for was to be paid after the completion of campaigns, and no one has received that money yet — only facilitation,” he said.
Mayinja added that artists were initially promised their payments in the first quarter of the year, or at the latest in the second quarter. However, they are still waiting.
“We were told we would be paid in the first or second quarter, and we are still waiting on that. What they are telling Buchaman — that others got paid — that was facilitation. We are all in the same situation. I think he just wasn’t explained to well or he didn’t understand,” Mayinja stated.
