Singer Shakira Shakiraa has spoken out about what she describes as deep-rooted “fake friendships” within the music industry, revealing why she chooses to keep her circle small.

In a candid revelation, Shakiraa said her experiences have left her wary of fellow musicians, accusing some of being two-faced and opportunistic in their relationships.
“I fear musicians. They are fake friends,” she said. “A musician is someone who will tell you they love you to your face, but when they leave, they express how they really feel and how much they hate you.”
The singer went on to recount an incident that cemented her distrust. According to her, she once spent time with a fellow musician who openly insulted and backbitten another artiste in a way that shocked her.
“There was a musician I was with. We were somewhere, and they were talking about another musician, abusing and backbiting them to the point that I was convinced they would poison them if they got the chance,” she revealed.
However, what stunned her most was what happened shortly after.
“Not even a week passed before I saw that same musician on the news with the one they had been abusing, showing them love and giving them birthday gifts,” she said.
Shakiraa believes such behavior is common in the industry, where some relationships are built purely on convenience and personal gain rather than genuine friendship.
“They only befriend you when it is beneficial to them. They see you as content that is going to propel them. That is fake friendship,” she added.
