Ugandan music star and Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president Eddy Kenzo has broken his silence following MC Kats’ claims that the Federation did little to support singer Fille Mutoni during her rehabilitation.

MC Kats, who is also Fille’s former partner, took to social media to accuse UNMF of lying about financially supporting Fille.

He disputed earlier claims that the Federation had given Fille UGX 15 million and him UGX 10 million, insisting instead that UNMF only facilitated her stay for about three months before stepping back.

In response, Eddy Kenzo dismissed the allegations, saying neither he nor the Federation ever publicly disclosed giving out such sums of money.

It’s my first time to hear it,” Kenzo said. “What I know is that Fille came to us unwell and we rehabilitated her at the Federation for some time. We later took her to a rehab facility and got her out when she got better.”

Kenzo explained that after Fille’s recovery, UNMF even organized a welcome party for her before she later relocated to Rwanda, marking the end of the Federation’s direct involvement in her personal affairs.

That means she was out of our hands and had become independent to run her own life just like any other person,” he added.

The Big Talent boss described some of the statements being circulated as propaganda, saying much of what is being said is fake and misleading. However, Kenzo was quick to note that he holds no grudge against MC Kats, insisting that he has never wronged him in any way.

Kenzo also used the opportunity to clarify the role of the Federation, emphasizing that while UNMF is committed to supporting musicians, it cannot singlehandedly solve every problem faced by artists across the country.

The Federation cannot finish all the problems; we can only assist,” Kenzo said. “We have thousands of people from border to border, so it’s unfortunate for anyone who gets problems to think the Federation will take on those responsibilities until everything is over. Sometimes it’s hard because those who need help are many.”
