Ugandan girl trio Warafiki have suggested that fellow female duo Kataleya & Kandle may have drawn inspiration from their fashion choices, especially when it comes to coordinated outfits.
Speaking during an appearance on NRG Radio, the three-girl group, which is managed by Steve Jean, said their identical fashion sense has gradually influenced trends in the local music industry.
According to Warafiki, their matching outfits were once heavily criticised, with some people describing the style as outdated. However, the group believes time has proven them right, noting that coordinated fashion has become popular among global girl groups.
“People used to criticise our identical fashion, calling it outdated, but look at the new groups in the U.K. and the U.S.A, they wear the same things,” the group said.
They went on to point out that even at home, they have noticed a shift.
“Here in Uganda, Kataleya & Kandle used not to wear the same outfits, but now they do. It’s possible that we even inspired them because we look so beautiful and our fashion is on trend. People love our sense of style and many tell us about it,” they added.
Warafiki expressed confidence in their fashion influence, saying their coordinated looks have become part of their brand and continue to receive positive feedback from fans.
