Following the gruesome murder of Arua Municipality Member of parliament, Honorable Ibrahim Abiriga a number of high profile figures including the head of state H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni have come out to condemn the manner in which the colorful NRM cadre was mercilessly killed on his way back home.

Among the high profile figures to send in condolence messages was kyandondo East Member of Parliament Honorable Kyagulanyi Ssentamu a.k.a Bobi Wine who tasked government to have an honest discussion with the public in as far the security crisis in the country in concerned.

Below is Bobi Wine’ message shortly after Abiriga was shot dead

Dear friends,
The gruesome murder of Hon. Col. Ibrahim Abiriga and his bodyguard this evening is yet another sad reminder that our country is in a very serious crisis. Countrymen, countrywomen, when we condemn the breakdown of the state in Uganda, some people think we are doing this for political reasons. My friends, as we can see,
the breakdown of the state spares no one. It affects all of us regardless of our religion, political parties, economic status, etc. My friend Ronald Mayinja was right when he recently sang, ‘bizeemu.’ Our nation is gradually descending into a very bad place and I think we must all- as stakeholders, have a say in preventing this terrible situation from continuing or getting worse.

Let me appeal to the government once more to acknowledge that we have reached that point when we must have an honest conversation as a nation and find a way out of this crisis. No matter who we are and what our political persuasions are, no Ugandan should lose his or her life in this gruesome, senseless manner. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. May their souls rest in peace.
