Ntungamo Police are holding a 31-year-old man accused of hacking to death his employer.
Muhangi alias Zakayo was arrested for in connection with the death of 71- year-old Mbabazi Heresi, a resident of Katsyoro I, Kagarama Town council Kajara county ,Ntungamo district.
Mbabazi’s lifeless body was found already buried in a nearby trace in banana.
It is alleged that Mbabazi met her death after holding a thanksgiving at Katsyoro COU on New Year’s Day (1st. Jan. 2019) thanking God for serving Him as senior church warden for a long period of time.
One the children, Micheal Nabireba explains that after killing the deceased, using a hoe and panga, Zakayo wrapped her body in a blanket and bedsheets before burying her in a nearby banana plantation, covered the ‘grave’ with soil and bean husks .
Nabireba added that when he reached home at around 9am today he asked for his mother but Zakayo told him that he did not know . He however saw some strains of blood and immediately called neighbors and the village chairperson for a search.
He noted that Zakayo had fled to Kanyampuumo in Nyabihoko Sub County where he confessed to boda boda riders, asking them to to take him to police because he had killed a person for unknown reasons and he was taken to Rwashameire police post.
The Katsyoro village chairperson Kabwijana Israel said that he had received a case the suspect had been threatening to kill people after selling off his land and he had spend three years with an old lady as casual labor.
The Ntungamo district CID, Godes Twinamatsiko confirmed the incident noting that the suspect in a lunatic who has been with deceased for three years.
He said that investigations into the matter are ongoing but advises the residents to desist from staying with desperate and lunatic people to avoid such incidences.
