News coming through from Jinja town indicate how the newly commissioned Nile Bridge has been closed and put off from public use as intense repairs begin following reports that it had began to crack and peel off barely three months after it was put to use.

However official communication from the Uganda National Roads Authority indicate that the New Nile bridge has no serious detect as the public seems to put it but rather a non structural attachment which is to replaced by a permanent asphalt as soon as investigation on structural behavior is concluded and baseline data is formed

It is also said that  the Contractor has completed all the tests and has embarked on plans to start application of permanent asphalt on the bridge deck but as a contractual requirement they are preparing a trial section of asphalt on the bridge at the length of approximately 100m on both approaches of the bridge.
