Apart from Mubarak Munyagwa appeared reluctant shaking hands with outgoing COSASE chief Abdu Katunta when he was receiving the office from him on Monday at Parliament.

The incoming Chairperson of Parliament’s committee on Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) has admitted that it is going to be a hard task fitting into the outgoing chairperson Katuntu’s shoes.

Munyagwa’s facial expression and the hand movement, spoke volumes as he received instruments of the office from the Bugweri County legislator. Katuntu’s term was extended to allow him to finish the probe in the closure of several commercial banks by Bank of Uganda, a thing that did not go down well with Munyagwa.

Addressing journalists after assuming office , the Kawempe South legislator said MP Katuntu who is also the Bugweri county MP is a very great personality who is far more experienced not only in legislative work, but also the legal discipline. He thereby asked not to be compared with him.

Nonetheless, with a vow to do his work judiciously without fear or favor, Munyagwa added that he and Katuntu have varying approaches which must be respected.

On his part, Katuntu implored Munyagwa to cooperate with committee Members majority of whom he says are not from the opposition to avoid conflicting minority reports. Katuntu also took time to advise Munyagwa to work towards tackling issues that greatly affect Ugandans in the first place ahead of petty ones.
