The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has denied scheming to fail Bobi Wine by raising the minimum presidential age to 45.
The NRM spokesperson, Rogers Mulindwa dismisses the rumor as propaganda from the People Power side.
Mulindwa also confirmed that President Yoweri Museveni has joined Robert Kyagulanyi, who recently confirmed his readiness to give the incumbent a bloody nose, in the 2021 Presidential race after the NRM Parliamentary Caucus in Kyankwanzi District unanimously endorsed him, saying Ugandans need him now more than ever.
The Eastern Region Persons with disabilities representative Hellen Asamo moved a motion saying that Uganda needed President Museveni now more than ever before for his firm guidance and mentorship of the Party Membership.
The party’s executive wing Central Executive Committee (CEC) also recently approved President Museveni to continue with his tenure as President when the elections return in 2021.
According to Mulindwa, if afforded an all-clear sign by the National Executive Committee and the National Delegates’ Conference, the endorsement means Museveni, already in power for 33 years, will seek a record sixth re-election.
