Jurgen Klopp is a modern day Liverpool icon but he could have been managing their bitter rivals Manchester United now if his wife Ulla hadn’t told him not to.
That’s the claim of another Reds legend, former European Cup-winning captain Phil Thompson who revealed that Klopp’s other half told him not to take up the reins at Old Trafford.
Speaking to Norwegian channel TV 2 , Thompson said: “I interviewed Klopp , and I asked if he and Liverpool were created for each other. He looked at me and asked why.
“Then Klopp told me he could have taken over Manchester United, but his wife said it wasn’t right.
“When Liverpool arrived, his wife said it was right. There is something strange there. It is as if he’s created for Liverpool.”
