Tanzania posted high 53 cases Friday!

We should be worried that Tanzania now with 158 cases joins Kenya who are at 246 after 12 new cases, Rwanda at 138 and DR Congo with 287 after 20 new cases.

Ummy Mwalimu, MP Minister for Health, announced an increase of 53 new coronavirus cases bringing the total number of corona-virus cases in Tanzania to 147. Mwalimu revealed that the infected people are all Tanzanians.

Tanzania’s situation like Kenya scares with cases emerging from within the country. The 53 new cases are from; 38 from Dar es Salaam, 10 from Zanzibar, 1 from Kilimanjaro, 1 from Mwanza, 1 from Pwani, 1 from Lindi, and 1 from Kagera.

President John Paul Magufuli like Uhuru Kenyatta rejected the idea of shutting down the nation when the first corona-virus case emerged.

Ferdinand Omondi, a concerned citizen tweeted: “Worth noting that roads, markets, churches and bars remain open in Tanzania. The country has resisted the lockdowns and shutdowns enforced by neighbours. They are currently on 3 days of prayer to contain the spread of coronavirus.”

CPA JMunene tipped: “The GoK should ensure all Tanzania borders are now completely closed. There is a peeping danger in their country.”

Kagera is closer home and with cases coming from there, we can’t sleep on the job. Kenya is on the upward move with 12 cases confirmed on Friday.

Citizens are concerned about the Tanzanian situation and have asked the government to keep a sharp eye.

DR Congo had 20 new cases confirmed on Friday. The cases are coming from all the country. Uganda has the bordering towns of Kasese, Arua and Kisoro which may easily turn into hot spots if not monitored well.

Globally, corona-virus cases are 2,218,597, 149,865 deaths and 560,890 recoveries.
