Bobi Wine has recently been out and about enjoying a cup of tea with fellow opposition leaders.

Bobi real name Robert Kyagulanyi is the member of parliament for Kyadondo East.

The musician has declined his intentions to contest against President Yoweri Museveni in the upcoming 2021 Presidential elections.

Pressure continues to mount from opposition faithful for a unified front to confront Museveni and defeat him.

The opposition has four-time contestant Dr. Kizza Besigye FDC, Major Gen. Mugisha Muntu ANT, Norbert Mao DP, Jimmy Akena UPC and Bobi Wine People Power all likely to present themselves for the election.

The opposition failed to reach agreement on a single candidate in 2016 after FDC pulled Dr. Besigye out of the TDA talks in Kampala.

The group then had Dr. Miria Matembe, Bishop Zac Niringiye, Mao, Amama Mbabazi, and Dr. Beside.

FDC pulled their man out of the negotiations after they claimed the individuals appeared to favour Mbabazi for the sole opposition candidate.

Opposition widely looks to have objected to Electoral Commission’s scientific elections revealed last week by the chairperson Samson Byabakama.

Dr. Besigye led the calls to stay away from the elections if EC continues to trade that line. The FDC leader accuses EC of meeting President Museveni before the proposal was announced to the public.

Dr. Besigye warned: “No path exists any more for Museveni’s EC to organize an election prescribed by Uganda’s Constitution. Parliament can constitutionally be extended but NOT term of president- except thru a referendum!”

Amidst the calls for opposition to stay away from the election, Bobi Wine has been dinning with his colleagues from the opposition.

While many called for him to stay away from Dr Besigye and go it all by himself, the People Power chief has disagreed.

Share tea with Dr. Besigye

Bobi Wine reached out to the four-time Presidential aspirant. Dr. Besigye served him a flask full of milk and yellow bananas.

The pair emerged on the same platform to address media. A thing hailed by many across the opposition.

Ken Lukyamuzi, Leader of the Conservative Party hit the roof over the pair’s joint news conference when he was interviewed by NTV.

Lukyamuzi, the man said: “I want to congratulate @kizzabesigye1 and @HEBobiwine upon finding it appropriate to come together and form such an alliance. President @KagutaMuseveni has no moral authority to dominate the politics of Uganda.”

Mao visit

Bobi Wine then surprised many when he posted a picture of himself and Mao. With Mao accusing the musician cum politician of destabilising his party. Several DP MPs Mathias Mpuga and Medard Ssegona among others have been shunned the party for Bobi.

The Kyadondo East legislator went on to share along the picture: “United Forces of Change, the only way we gonna get a liberation! Always happy catching up with my elder brother Hon. @norbertmao  to discuss the future of our nation. #StrongerTogether”

Muntu connections

Bobi and Gen. Muntu have shared the same platforms and the former army chief. The former army chief has told his group when launching ANT he is willing to work with Bobi.

Muntu comes with former leader of opposition in Parliament Winnie Kiiza who fell out with the FDC after losing her position in Parliament. And, Alice Alaaso, a former Serere woman MP is the secretary general of ANT.

Bobi extended help to Kiiza during the tough times of floods in her area. She confirmed: “I have this afternoon received UGX 13.5 Million from @HEBobiwine as a donation from the People Power Movement in & outside Uganda. The donation is directed towards our call for contribution & restoration of hope for the victims of the #KaseseFloods.”

Hussein Kyanjo visit

Asuman Basalirwa of the Jeema is the lead lawyer for the People Power pressure group. Bobi strengthened his Jeema connections when he: “Paid a courtesy call on Hajj Hussein Kyanjo to check on his health. Very pleased to find him in good health. Also had the honour of meeting with Imam Kasozi, another eminent leader. Their advice- “Always put principles ahead of interests and you will live a dignified life.”

The headache for opposition is Uganda Peoples Congress President Jimmy Akena who has showed no signs of willing to unite fronts.
