Ugandans across the country are largely anticipating a further lifting of the lockdown in a national address on COVID-19 by President Museveni on Monday, June 22, at 8 pm.

The currently extended lockdown expires on June 25, 2020.

Currently, Uganda has 774 Covid-19 patients after confirming 4 new cases on Monday morning out of 2’224 samples tested.

2 of the confirmed cases are truck drivers who arrived from South Sudan via Elegu border and Kenya via Malaba points of entry while the other 2 are contacts and alerts to previously confirmed cases from Amuru and Kyotera districts.

The last time the president addressed the nation he high lighted the resumption of public transport, a 1 month halt to reopening of schools for candidate classes, and maintained curfew.

The president maintained that Boda Boda’s remain carrying luggage for another 21 days including the closure of bars, night clubs, churches, gyms.

However, the issue of arcades reopening, Rent arrears for business owners, general waivers for utility bills on water and power, Boda Bodas resuming passenger operations, and curfew time being extended among others have been highly debated.

Also, schools, universities and tertiary institutions are an area Ugandans are keenly awaiting an update.

Don Wanyama the Senior Presidential Press Secretary posted on his Twitter handle that the Museveni will address the nation at 8 p.m

It reads President @KagutaMuseveni will address the country today, Monday, at 8 pm, giving an update on the country’s fight against COVID-19 and related issues. Catch address on TVs and radio,” Mr. Wanyama said.

So far, Uganda also has 631 COVID-19  recoveries, 256 active cases, and 0 Deaths.
