The Kampala Woman MP Nabbillah Naggayi has lashed out at her party Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party for refusing to accept her nomination papers as the sole candidate of FDC for Lord mayor Kampala.
Nabbillah who visited the FDC party headquarters in Najjanankumbi on Wednesday to present her nomination forms met resistance from the secretariat who claimed she was a little too late in handing in her forms.
The FDC Electoral Commission Chairman Boniface Bamwenda told Nabillah that the deadline for receiving all nomination forms from aspirants ended on Tuesday the 14th of July 2020 and accepting her papers would mean violating the constitutional mandate.
However , an upset Nabillah told Journalists outside the party offices that a handful of leaders within the FDC party loyal to the current lord Mayor for Kampala Erias Lukwago are frustrating her intentions to stand for the same position.
Nabillah explained that she is the sole candidate on the FDC party ticket aspiring for lord Mayor Kampala and is backed by FDC chairpersons in all the five divisions of Kampala.
Bamwenda however faulted Nabilah for delaying to return her nomination forms saying she probably had a hidden agenda.
He noted that the party won’t violate its constitutional mandate by accepting her forms after the deadline.
