A Kalungu man has sustained multiple burns after torching himself and his family with paraffin over a cheating wife.

Hassan Munkunyu, a resident of Mukoko village in Bukulula Sub County in Kalungu district tried to end his own life after he netted his wife Jenifer Natukunda, in bed with the next-door neighbor.

A bitter Mukunyu who is also a father of five children they share with his unfaithful wife reportedly returned home abruptly on Wednesday night with Kerosene and locked himself in with the family.

Natukunda narrates how she started panicking when she saw her angry husband pouring the kerosene he had purchased on all the corners of the house before lighting a fire.

Natukunda screamed for help when the house started burning up attracting neighbours who were swift in breaking into the house.

While Natukunda and the children were rescued in time, Mukunyu vehemently refused to come out and instead locked himself up in the bedroom.

Charles Okello, the Kalungu District Police Commander, says police finally intervened and managed to forcefully pull out Munkunyu and rush him to Bukulula Health Center IV for treatment.

He says they have commenced investigations into the incident and have recorded statements from the survivors
