Ntugamo grade 1 Magistrate’s court has on Tuesday morning remanded embattled State Minister for Labour, Mwesigwa Rukutana, to Kitalya Prison until the 15th of September 2020.

Rukutana had appeared at Ntungamo Magistrate’s Court for a bail application but was sent back for one more week to allow the state to complete investigations into incidents in Rushenyi, Ntungamo district.

His lawyers led by Owen Murangira asked for bail arguing that their client has a well-known place of abode, the charges against him were bailable, and that he had substantial sureties.

Among the sureties presented to court include; former Information Minister Jim Muhwezi, businessman Bob Kabonero, and Igara East County MP Michael Mawanda.

Rukutana on Monday afternoon appeared before the Ntungamo Magistrates Court court and was charged with seven counts of Attempted Murder, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Malicious Damage, and Threatening Violence.
