Police in Kampala has revealed that the Bwaise Woman Councilor I, II, and III who mysteriously disappeared on Monday this week has finally shown up.
Rukia Namuwanga, a Forum for Democratic Change-FDC flag bearer for Kawempe South Woman Lord Councilor and resident of Kazo Central zone was reported missing on Monday after she left her house and abandoned her phones there as well.
Namuwanga was later reported to have been kidnapped in a police case at Kawempe Police Station at 08:00 am by her sister, Asia Nkata, a lawyer with Justice Centre Uganda.
However, the Kampala metropolitan police mouthpiece Patrick Onyango has cast doubt in Namuwanga’s story after she resurfaced last evening in Wobulenzi in Luwero district.
Onyango says that upon interrogation, she confirmed that she was indeed kidnapped by a group of thugs who threatened her with a knife.
Namuwanga stated to police that on Monday, she left her home at 9 pm to the nearby pharmacy to buy drugs but was waylaid by an unknown woman on her way back that pointed a knife at her and ordered that she enters a car.
But Onyango says that her time of kidnap doesn’t tally with that of her sister Asia who reported her disappearance to the police .
”The person who reported her case of disappearance informed police that she went missing at 06:00 hours and for her, she says that she left home at 0900 hours,” Onyango said
Namuwanga further narrated that while in the vehicle she was blindfolded by 2 men and whisked off to an unknown destination.
She says her captors forced her into eating yellow bananas and a tablet that left her unconscious and by the time she awoke, she realized that she was in a bush and she was weak.
Onyango says she managed to gather energy to walk up to the road where she met a woman and she asked the woman to take her to the Chairperson LC I.
The LCI called the Police of Wobulenzi that picked her from his home and taken to Kawempe Police Station where she made a brief statement.
Onyango says Police directed that she should go for medical treatment as investigations continue.
”Police noticed that the clothes, she was putting on were very clean not for someone who has spent two days in the bush. We are still investigating a case of kidnap,” he added
