IThe National Resistance Movement-NRM party elections for flag bearers for district chairpersons, and mayors have started off with a low voter turn up in most parts of Kampala.

The position for the Lord Mayor party ticket is being contested for by local musician Daniel Kazibwe aka Ragga Dee and Kizito Ssebaana, a nephew to the former Kampala Mayor, the late John Ssebaana Kizito.

This comes exactly a week after the party concluded its primaries for constituency and woman Mp flag bearers.

Most polling stations in Kampala Central Division by 11 am this morning were largely abandoned with no sign that party members going to the polls.

Despite a confirmation by the deputy chairperson NRM electoral commission John Kyalimpa Kijaji that they are set and more ready for the election with all necessities, there is no sign of polling in Kampala Central today.

The low turn out could be attributed to the rainy day.

Among the most notable polling stations with scanty numbers include; Nakasero Primary School, Waterboard polling station along Lumumba Avenue, Crested Towers Polling Station, Musajja Alubwa flats polling station in Mengo, National Theater Polling Station, Rubaga A and B polling stations, William Street Polling Station among others.

This year’s NRM primary elections are conducted by the lining up method behind one’s favorite candidate.
