It was a big blow for Independent Presidential Candidate Gen Henry Tumukunde Kakurugu on Wednesday afternoon after Security forces blocked him from entering the Kisoro district.
Tumukunde who arrived with his team was greeted to a roadblock manned by armed police officers who denied him access to Kisoro district on grounds that he needed permission first from the Electoral Commission.
According to the EC campaign schedule, Tumukunde was expected to appear in Kisoro on Tuesday 10, 2020 but he failed to show up
The general flared at the police officers who seemed unbothered until he decided to make a U-turn to his next destination of campaigns in Rubanda district.
On Monday Tumukunde suffered a heavy dose of teargas at Rukungiri in the Kigezi sub-region where he was launching his maiden campaign for the top seat.
Tumukunde’s supporters had organized a procession of about 200 Boda Boda riders to welcome him, paralyzing traffic and business in the town.
Tear gas rocked Rukungiri town at about 01:30: PM as anti-riot police and army engaged in running battles with the procession to bring back sanity to the town.
