The lifeless body of a 24-year-old woman who accidentally fell and drowned in River Nyamwamba in Kasese District has been discovered.
Biira Karamahyi fell into the first flowing water on Thursday evening while on her way to deliver food to a patient admitted to a nearby hospital.
Karamahyi slipped into the water as she attempted to cross through the river at Kihara trading center in Rukoki sub-county to Habitant cell in Kasese municipality.
Locals at Kanyangeya cell, Kasese municipality found the lifeless body at the shores of the river after it had moved miles away from where she fell.
Local leaders in the area say death by drowning is rampant in the area because of the lack of bridges connecting the area to the municipality.
They claim 10 people have so far drowned on the same spot in a space of 3 years over the same problem.
