The police are hunting for a man accused of killing his LC1 chairperson over playing a game of Matatu cards at a local bar in the Rukiga district.
Obed Ndyareeba, an owner of the local bar found at Mukatojo Trading Centre in Kagorogoro village reportedly chopped to death Frank Byarugaba, the chairperson after a bitter fight over the matatu game.
Eyewitnesses at the scene say Byarugaba stormed the bar where 12 drunkards were galloping liquor while playing matatu and accused Ndyareeba of encouraging school-going kids to gamble at his bar.
Ndyareeba and company retaliated by abusing Byarugaba and demanding that he leaves them in peace, however, Byarugaba refused and kept demanding an explanation.
Infuriated by the LC, Ndyareeba picked a machete from the counter and chopped of Byarugaba’s head and hand killing him on the spot.
Ndyareeba and his fellow drunks fled into hiding and a still at large .
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying that he is still gathering details.
