John Famba, a resident of Kimenyulo village in Ivukula Sub County has been thrown into police custody for chopping to death a 23-year-old blind man.

The deceased identified Hamza Luka was hired by Famba to keep watch of his charcoal stall in exchange for a meal a day.

However deaf Hamza was unable to maintain his part of the deal in guarding the charcoal.

His boss Famba returned to the stall on Thursday morning at about 4 am only to find 2 bags of charcoal missing which infuriated him .

Famba immediately attacked Hamza and accused him of dealing with other thugs to rob him of his sacks of charcoal.

A heated argument ensued between the 2 before Famba reportedly grabbed a knife and pierced Hamza on the neck, killing him on spot.

The deceased’s father, Asuman Gulele says that they alerted police after noticing Famba clearing the scene of the crime.

“Famba called me claiming that my son was killed by night robbers who had sped off with part of his charcoal, but on arrival at the scene, I saw him mopping the blood from the murder scene, so I immediately alerted police,” he says.

Busoga East Police Spokesperson, James Mubi says that Famba was captured at his home while trying to escape and the murder weapon he used was also found hidden under his bed.

Mubi says they are currently hlding Famba at Namutumba central police station on murder charges .

The deceased has been taken to Iganga general hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.
