UCE and PLE exams have wrapped up successfully, but not without drama. UNEB confirmed 16 pregnant girls and three breastfeeding mothers took their papers with support.

Jennifer Kalule, the Uneb spokesperson says one PLE candidate also gave birth during the examination period.

“We had a total of 16 pregnancies at PLE level, rather at UCE level. UCE, 16 pregnancies that were reported to us. We had three pregnant girls, we had three breastfeeding mothers as well as one delivery. All these were supported and were able to do the examinations.” she explained

Kalule further revealed that heavy rains during the PLE caused chaos in Lira and Katakwi, flooding classrooms and forcing the relocation of candidates. At Gwane Modern Primary, learners were moved to Aleberele Primary School, while in Katakwi, communities drained classrooms and laid stones so students could write.

UNEB reported 55 malpractice cases, mostly teachers trying to cheat. In Kavale, headteacher Shea Dedrick was arrested for denying a candidate the right to sit Maths over an illegal UGX 70,000 fee. He is out on bail and will appear in court on 16 December 2025.

The board thanked police, security, and local communities for ensuring exams ran smoothly despite the challenges.
