The 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results will be officially released tomorrow at State House, Nakasero, by the Minister of Education and Sports.

A total of 432,159 candidates sat the exams from October 13 to November 7, 2025, marking a 12.1 percent increase from last year. The rise is credited to higher enrolment in both government and private schools and the ongoing impact of the Universal Secondary Education (USE) programme.

This cycle is the second to be assessed under the new Lower Secondary Competency-Based Curriculum, where Continuous Assessment (CA) scores account for 20 percent of the final grade and UNEB end-of-cycle exams contribute 80 percent.

Among the candidates, 154,637 (36 percent) are USE beneficiaries, while 241,246 are privately sponsored. Girls made up 52.7 percent of the candidates, with boys at 47.3 percent.

The exams were conducted despite teacher strikes organized by the Uganda National Teachers’ Union, which demanded better pay and working conditions. UNEB, however, confirmed that the exams proceeded as scheduled.
