“Sembera Maama… Yanguwa Lola…”

The chorus floated through the evening air as lovebirds swayed beneath the twilight sky, their voices blending into one romantic symphony at the lush gardens of the Sheraton Kampala Hotel. Cupid had clearly clocked in for duty.

It was Valentine’s Day and in Kampala, that meant one thing: a love soundtrack curated by none other than Geosteady Blackman.

By 5pm, the gardens were already glowing, not just from the golden sunset, but from couples walking hand in hand, pausing for selfies and sealing moments at V&A’s photobooth. Front-row seats became prime real estate as lovers positioned themselves for what promised to be the country’s biggest Valentine’s Day concert.

The stage was set for powerhouse performances from Juliana Kanyomozi, Mariam Ndagire, Irene Ntale, Lydia Jazmine, Fik Fameica, and Fefe Bussi, among others. It wasn’t just a concert — it was a full-blown serenade festival.

But when Geosteady stepped onto the stage, the atmosphere shifted from excitement to electric romance.

His melodic voice wrapped around the crowd like a warm embrace. The audience didn’t just listen… they lip-synced every word to hits like ‘Sembera’, ‘Same Way’, ‘Soulmate’, and ‘Nze Naawe’. It was less of a performance and more of a collective love confession.

Just when hearts couldn’t get any softer, a gentleman made his way onto the stage mid-performance. As Geosteady’s love ballad played on, he dropped to one knee and proposed to the sherry of his life.

Time froze.

The crowd gasped. Then came the “awwws.” Then the ululations.

The emotional crescendo was sealed with a bouquet and a surprise prize of a romantic getaway. Content creators scrambled to capture the magic, but for those present, no camera could truly bottle that moment.

It was love in high definition.

By the time the final note faded into the Kampala night, exhaustion had settled in, the good kind. The kind that comes after dancing, singing, laughing, and loving with your whole heart.
