A 24-year-old mother was arrested for allegedly stabbing her three-year-old daughter to death in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The incident happened at around 5:00am on February 24, 2026, in Lusaze, Kampala District. The deceased has been identified as Ayongeirwe Neila.
Police say the suspect, Aine Shivan, allegedly attacked and fatally stabbed her biological daughter while her husband, Bakwatanisa Dickson, was away from home.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SP Racheal Kawala, preliminary findings indicate that after the alleged act, the suspect attempted to take her own life by cutting her neck. She survived and was rushed to hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment under police guard.
Investigators say the couple had unresolved domestic violence issues, which may have contributed to the tragic events. The suspect remains in custody at Nateete Police Station as investigations continue.
