A heartbreaking incident has shocked residents of Nalutete village in Mubende District after a kidnapped four-year-old boy was found murdered and dumped in a pit latrine.
The victim, Kazungu Daniel, was reported missing on March 9, 2026, by his father Baingana Eric after he discovered the child had vanished from his bed during the night.
According to police, the desperate father woke up at around 5:00am to prepare his children for school, only to realize that the young boy was gone. The back door of the house had been forced open, indicating that a kidnapper had broken in while the family slept.
Shortly after the disappearance, the kidnapper contacted the family and demanded Shs6 million for the child’s release.
In a desperate attempt to save their son, the family managed to mobilize Shs1 million and sent it to the suspect.
However, police later discovered that the child had already been murdered.
A joint security operation involving the Police Flying Squad and Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence tracked the suspect to Kibaati in Kansanga, Makindye Division, Kampala, where he was arrested.
The suspect, Muwanguzi Emmanuel, reportedly confessed to kidnapping the child, killing him, and dumping his body in a pit latrine in Nalutete village.
On Friday morning, a Police Fire Brigade team in Mubende retrieved the child’s body from the latrine and transported it to Mubende Hospital Mortuary.
The suspect has been charged with murder and will soon appear before court.
The incident has left residents and the victim’s family in deep shock and mourning.
