In a candid interview with Galaxy TV’s Rewind team, the singer revealed that her decision to enter the music industry didn’t just raise eyebrows, it tore her family apart. According to Sheem, her mother was fiercely against her career choice from day one, completely rejecting her ambitions and even distancing herself emotionally.
“She outright refused to accept it,” Sheem confessed.
While her father initially had doubts, he eventually softened and even tried to bridge the gap. In a surprising twist, he encouraged Sheem’s mother to step in and guide her daughter’s career, even suggesting she become her manager!
But things took a heartbreaking turn.
Instead of supporting her, Sheem says her mother walked away entirely, leaving her to face the harsh realities of the music industry alone. The emotional wounds ran deep, with the singer revealing that her mother would get upset whenever she saw her perform or heard her songs.
But this story isn’t all heartbreak…
In a touching twist, Sheem revealed that time and understanding, slowly healed their broken bond. Once her mother truly understood the kind of music she was creating, her perspective changed.
“We still talk… she had completely pushed me away, but when she saw the type of music that we do, she lifted her hate and embraced me as her daughter.”
