It started on TikTok. A group of Makerere University students and some fans, frustrated that Uganda’s own Vinka had never headlined her own major concert, decided to do something about it.

Led by a content creator Vine, the started a petition for 2000 signatures for a Vinka Concert. He
campaign quickly took on a life of its own. Over 2,000 fans signed the petition demanding that
Swangz Avenue give Vinka a concert.
The movement flooded TikTok and social media with content, pleas and pressure, generating significant coverage and conversation around one simple question: When can we have a Vinka concert?
Today, they got their answer. Vine and a group of fans showed up at Swangz Avenue’s offices in Kampala, petition in hand, cameras rolling. Swangz Avenue received them, and Vinka confirmed it: Vinka will headline her own concert in 2026.
“This came from the fans. Swangz will make it happen,” said a Benon Mugumbya. “We heard
them, and we are delivering.”
Vinka, who was present at the confirmation, expressed her gratitude to the fans who pushed for
the moment. “This is for all of you who never stopped asking,” she said.
