Azawi has dropped a bombshell on her socials that’s turning the entire music industry on its head!

Just days after Sevo signed the controversial Copyright and Neighbouring Rights (Amendment) Act, 2026 into force, the Majje hitmaker has gone rogue, publicly telling fans they can blast her music anywhere, anytime… for FREE!
“Guys, me as me, I authorize you to play my music for free.”
Yes, you read that right!
The new law was supposed to tighten the grip on music usage across Uganda, promising artists better pay through stricter enforcement and high-tech tracking systems like the mysterious Nyange device.
Nyange is designed to monitor every beat played in bars, clubs, and public spaces, ensuring artists get every coin they deserve. Sounds fair, right?

Well… not everyone is clapping.
While some artists are celebrating the promise of bigger royalties, Azawi is flipping the script completely.
Is she making a powerful statement about accessibility? Or risking undermining the very protections artists fought for?
