Celebrated RnB star Maro has finally revealed the emotional reason behind his relocation to Germany during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking during an interview on Rewind- Galaxy TV, the “Anjagala” hitmaker reflected on the difficult period that shook the world, saying the pandemic brought fear, hunger, economic hardship, and devastating loss of life across Uganda.
According to Maro, the situation became personal when his partner – a German national – was evacuated under Germany’s emergency program to rescue its citizens abroad during the deadly outbreak.
The singer disclosed that his daughter, whom he shares with his German partner, also left Uganda during the evacuation, leaving him with a painful decision to make.
“With everything that was happening during COVID, I felt it was important to be close to my family,” Maro explained. “My daughter had left with her mother, and I decided to go to Germany so I could bond with her and be there during such uncertain times.”
The move sparked speculation among fans at the time, with many wondering whether the silky-voiced singer had permanently abandoned Uganda’s music industry. However, Maro says the relocation was mainly driven by family and survival during one of the world’s darkest moments.
Now back in Uganda, the singer says his focus is fully on rebuilding his music career and reclaiming his place among the country’s top vocalists.
Maro also revealed his dream of staging a massive comeback concert either at the prestigious Serena Hotel Kampala grounds or Royal Grounds, a show he hopes will attract the presence of the King of Busoga.
The singer believes the concert will mark a new chapter in his journey and remind fans why he remains one of Uganda’s finest RnB voices.
Fans have since welcomed his return warmly, with many eager to see whether Maro can successfully revive the magic that once made him a household name.
