Police in Matuga are investigating the brutal killing of a 17-year-old boy whose body was discovered in a building under construction near a nursery school in Wakiso District.
The deceased has been identified only as Austine, a milk hawker and resident of Nalusuga Village in Kasangati Town Council.
According to police preliminary findings, Austine disappeared on May 9 after leaving home for work at Buwambo Trading Centre as he normally did.
However, he never returned home, sparking concern among family members.
His lifeless body was later discovered dumped in an unfinished building near Flourish Day Care and Nursery School in Najjo Zone, Kanywamusulo Cell, Gombe Division.
Police officers together with a canine unit were deployed to the scene as investigations into the mysterious killing commenced.
The police sniffer dog reportedly picked up a scent trail that allegedly led investigators directly into the school premises.
According to sources close to the investigation, the dog entered one of the classrooms where the school askari is said to sleep and reportedly sat down before continuing towards the Buwambo–Katadde road where the scent trail ended.
Investigators also recovered exhibits suspected to contain blood stains from the baby class section and a Primary Two classroom within the school premises.
The shocking development led to the arrest of the school’s head teacher, identified as Muganga Moses, who is currently being held to assist police with investigations.
Police say efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest more suspects connected to the murder.
The motive behind the killing had not yet been established by press time.
The gruesome incident has left residents in the area shocked and demanding justice for the teenager whose daily hustle was selling milk in Buwambo Trading Centre.
