Recho Rey has spoken out about her bold fashion choices, insisting that her style transformation has nothing to do with seeking attention
Recho Rey has finally spoken out about her bold fashion choices, insisting that her style transformation has nothing to do with seeking attention from men.

Known in her early music career as a tomboy with a tough, masculine image, Recho Rey often rocked oversized outfits and displayed a rugged street-inspired personality that made her stand out in Uganda’s hip-hop scene. However, over the last six years, the rapper has gradually reinvented herself, embracing a more feminine appearance and confidently showing off her curves in figure-hugging and skimpy outfits.
Her dramatic transformation has sparked endless debate online, with some critics accusing her of changing her image to impress men and gain attention on social media.
But speaking during a recent interview, the rapper dismissed the claims, making it clear that her fashion decisions are entirely personal and based on self-expression rather than male validation.
“You do not need to walk naked for me to see you; besides, they are not supposed to see you. Personally, I do not do it for men, but according to the outfit that I have on that day. That makes me feel good,” Recho Rey explained.
The rapper added that confidence and comfort are the biggest reasons behind her current style, stressing that she dresses according to how she feels and the image she wants to project.
Over the years, Recho Rey has become one of Uganda’s most admired female celebrities when it comes to body fitness and fashion. Fans frequently praise her toned figure, something she says did not come easily.

According to the rapper, maintaining her desired body shape requires discipline, consistency, and intense gym sessions.
“Gym is something I love so much. Besides, there is a certain kind of body that I want to have myself, and I know it takes a lot of work and investment to get it. It takes years for me to have the body that I want to see myself in. It takes a lot of effort, and I have a vision of how I would love to look. That is why I work out like crazy,” she revealed.
Recho Rey’s comments have since triggered mixed reactions online, with many fans applauding her for promoting self-confidence and body positivity, while others continue to question the growing trend of revealing fashion among female celebrities.
Despite the criticism, the rapper appears unfazed, continuing to embrace her evolving image while reminding critics that her style is about personal happiness, not pleasing anyone else.
