Cindy has voiced concern following the Ministry of Health’s decision to suspend concerts, public events due to Ebola outbreak
Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) president Cindy Sanyu has voiced concern following the Ministry of Health’s decision to suspend concerts, public events, and other gatherings due to the recent Ebola outbreak in the country.

The Ministry recently announced temporary restrictions aimed at controlling the spread of the deadly virus and safeguarding public health, a move that has sparked anxiety within the entertainment industry.
Speaking during an interview, Cindy revealed that she is preparing to engage officials from the Ministry of Health in discussions to explore safer alternatives that would allow musicians and event organizers to continue operating without shutting down the industry completely.
According to the celebrated singer, artists are still recovering from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 lockdown, which left many entertainers financially stranded for months.
“I don’t want us to go back to the COVID situation. My plan now is to meet with the Ministry and discuss how musicians can be sustained. I don’t want artists to go back to begging,” Cindy explained during the interview with Galaxy TV’s Rewind team.
The UMA president disclosed that she intends to formally write to the Ministry requesting a meeting to discuss possible safety measures and workable solutions that can help concerts continue responsibly while protecting the public from the Ebola virus.
Cindy emphasized that although public health remains a priority, the government must also consider the livelihoods of thousands of people who depend on the entertainment industry, including musicians, promoters, DJs, event organizers, sound technicians, and vendors.
Her remarks have since sparked debate online, with some Ugandans supporting the government’s strict measures to contain Ebola, while others agree with Cindy that the entertainment sector should not suffer another complete shutdown.
