Without hesitation, Juliana hitmaker chose Iryn Namubiru. But Juliana was quick to make one thing clear – she has no interest in competition

Juliana Kanyomozi has finally revealed the only female artist she would willingly step onto the same stage with for a musical face-off, and the answer has surprised many fans.

Speaking during an interview on Galaxy TV, Juliana was asked to choose between Cindy Sanyu, Sheebah Karungi and Iryn Namubiru if she had no option but to take part in a music battle against another Ugandan female star.

Without hesitation, the “Nabikoowa” hitmaker chose Iryn Namubiru. But Juliana was quick to make one thing clear – she has no interest in competing with fellow musicians.

“I don’t like the word battle. If it was Iryn and I on the same stage, it would be more of a celebration of music and artistry,” Juliana said.

Her comments have reignited memories of one of Uganda’s most iconic female music partnerships. Juliana and Iryn first shot to fame as members of the legendary girl group I-Jay before launching hugely successful solo careers that cemented their places among the country’s greatest vocalists.

The pair’s journey, however, was not without drama. Their friendship and working relationship reportedly hit rock bottom, leading to years of silence and speculation about their fallout. Fans watched from a distance as the two stars pursued separate paths.

Fortunately, time healed old wounds. Juliana and Iryn eventually buried the hatchet and restored their friendship, a reunion that was celebrated across the entertainment industry.

Now, Juliana’s latest remarks have left fans dreaming of a historic concert featuring the two vocal powerhouses. Rather than a clash for supremacy, she envisions an unforgettable night dedicated to celebrating their shared legacy and the impact they have had on Uganda’s music scene.

With music battles becoming increasingly popular, many fans believe a Juliana-Iryn concert would be a blockbuster event. And if Juliana’s words are anything to go by, it wouldn’t be about proving who is the bigger star; it would be about honouring two of Uganda’s most accomplished female artists and the timeless music that made them household names.

Could this long-awaited musical reunion finally happen? Fans are certainly hoping so.
