Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Management:
- Supervise, train, and motivate a team of Route Sales Representatives (RSRs).
- Assign sales routes and targets to RSRs and monitor their daily performance.
- Conduct regular field visits with RSRs to provide coaching and ensure adherence to standards.
2. Sales Execution & Target Achievement:
- Drive the team to achieve and exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets.
- Ensure flawless execution of sales plans, promotions, and new product launches in the territory.
- Monitor stock levels in vans and at distributor points to prevent stock-outs or overstocking.
3. Distribution & Merchandising:
- Guarantee that all assigned outlets have the right mix of products and sufficient stock levels.
- Ensure products are merchandised correctly according to company planograms for maximum visibility.
- Oversee the efficient and timely loading of products onto sales vans.
4. Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key distributors, wholesalers, and retailers.
- Address and resolve any customer (outlet) complaints promptly and effectively.
5. Reporting & Administration:
- Prepare and submit daily and weekly sales reports, including achievements, challenges, and market intelligence.
- Monitor and report on competitor activities within the territory.
- Ensure the team accurately completes all necessary documentation (e.g., waybills, returns forms).
6. Compliance:
- Ensure the team complies with all company policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
- Oversee the proper care and maintenance of sales assets (e.g., vehicles, handheld devices).
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Experience: Proven experience (typically 2-3 years) in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sales environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Education: A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and inspire a field sales team.
- Results-Driven: A strong track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze sales data, identify issues, and implement effective solutions.
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency in using MS Office (Excel, Word) and familiarity with sales reporting software or handheld devices.
- Mobility: Must possess a valid driver's license (Class B) and be willing to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
