Purpose of the Job
To assist in the conduct of games and sporting activities at the University
Person Specifications
1) Diploma in either Sports Science OR Physical Education OR Sport and Exercise Science OR Strength and Conditioning OR Sports Management from a recognized institution of Higher Learning.
2) Should have at least Level Two (2) coaching qualifications in at least two (02) sports from a recognised sports body.
3) Knowledge and skills of first aid and experience in working with students are added advantages.
Duties and Responsibilities
a) Conducts physical activities and exercises for the University Team and staff.
b) Notifies the Sports Tutor and Medical Team of the physical conditions of players for necessary action.
c) Supports in the organization, management, and running of University sports tournaments and other games, sporting and recreational events.
d) Assists in coaching the University Teams in the relevant field of expertise.
e) Assists in managing the welfare of the University sports teams
f) Manages and maintains facilities, training kits, and other equipment, including their records for games, sporting, and recreational programs.
g) Assist in supervising and monitoring coaches, facilitate officials, games, and sports union activities, and support staff tending the sports facilities/grounds.
h) Keep records of all facilities, kits, and equipment for games, sporting, and recreational activities accurately and regularly
i) Assists in identifying and recommending coaches and athletes for the University Teams
j) Assists in implementing guidelines, regulations, and policies
k) Performs any other official duties as assigned by the Assistant Sports Tutor.
Key Outputs
i Physical activities and exercise for the University Teams and staff are conducted.
ii The Medical Team and Sports Tutor are notified of the physical condition of players.
iii Support for the organisation, management, and running of sports tournaments and other sporting and recreational events is provided.
iv Assistance in coaching the University Teams is provided.
v Records and Data for updating the inventory of games, sporting, and recreational equipment and facilities are compiled and kept accurately and regularly.
vi University Teams coached.
vii Support in managing the welfare of training University sports teams is provided.
viiiSupport in managing and maintaining facilities, training kits, and other equipment for games, sporting, and recreational programs is provided.
