JOB OVERVIEW

Department: Yard
Reports to: Yard Administrator
Direct Reports: N/A

Main Responsibilities of the Job

  • Inspecting vehicle engines and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
  • Inspecting vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade.
  • Conducting routine maintenance work with the aim of ensuring vehicle functionality and longevity.
  • Repairing brake and steering systems.
  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical and electronic systems.
  • Replacing/repairing vehicle transmissions and fuel components as needed.
  • Repairing cooling components and systems including air conditioners and engine cooling.
  • Performing emissions inspection, safety checks and similar regulated vehicle examinations.
  • Preparing and submitting mechanical reports.
  • Any role that may be assigned by your Supervisor

Academic and Professional Requirements

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2 years’ work experience in a busy garage/institution.
  • Holder of a clean and valid driving license.

Competencies and Skills

  • Good team player.
  • Strong ability to adapt and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems and components.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Be able to work with deadlines hence have good organizational and time management skills.
